Global Youth Day
With the support of the GC Administration, the 13 Division youth directors, MENA Union and the Israel field, “Global Youth Day” was launched on March 13, 2013. The vision of GYD is to recapture the reality of Adventist youth as a global movement mobilized for service, contributing to the proclamation of the everlasting gospel and ushering in the second coming of Jesus Christ. There is a lot more to religious faith than simply going to church and listening to sermons. The true practice of religion involves the revelation of God’s love in living out Jesus’ gospel commission.
Global Youth Day is to show God’s love by organizing and participating in sustainable activities designed to generate engagement, raise awareness, stimulate action, and make significant difference in our communities. This year we are encouraging GYD participants to host a blood drive. Sharing life through donating blood symbolizes Christ’s sacrifice for us. Furthermore, there is a shortage of blood in the blood banks. Learn how to plan a blood drive for Global Youth Day, March 18, 2017 at our website. While the blood drive is the main event for 2017, it must not stop you from carrying out other activities you have planned for the day. The official hashtags are #GYD17 and #GlobalYouthDay2017, please be sure to include them in your social media posts.
Global Youth Day also launches the official Youth Week of Prayer meetings. Please be sure to download the Youth Week of Prayer readings for your Junior and Senior Youth.
Ahead of time, please contact your pastor or conference youth leader to see what projects your church will be involved in on this day, March 18, 2017. Make big plans and share them with the world. For more information and to download all GYD promotional materials visit our website. And remember to download the app so we can see you on the map. To view the iPhone app, click here. To view the Android app, click here. The activity you share through the app on March 18th will pop up on the Global Youth Day homepage map right here.
When we see how God’s power moved through the streets of our communities last year, we can only imagine what He’ll do this year!
